Coaching for your Next Stage
For moments of transition, change, and stepping into what's next.
Coaching is for the in-between moments.
The end of one st age and the beginning of the next. A change you can sense but can't yet name. A decision that's been hovering for months and is starting to ask for attention. A role you're growing into, or one you're growing out of. A quiet wish to live differently, even when you can't yet name what that means.
These moments can feel like being lost. They're often where something new begins.
Every beginning needs an ending. Every new act needs the last one to close. The work of coaching is to help you meet the ending honestly, and find the beginning that wants to follow.
"During a challenging and confusing time, Ian helped me structure my thoughts... I will continue to use the tools that we came up with together to navigate the changes in my life."

What it's like to be coached
Coaching, in my hands, is mostly a matter of attention - and of service.
I listen deeply. I reflect what I hear, and notice what you may not have noticed yourself. I ask questions, and then I wait. The space between the question and your answer is often where the real thinking happens, and I've learned not to rush it.
Occasionally I might offer a direction or a different way of seeing - but only when it serves you. Most of the time, the answers you need are already inside you, looking for the right kind of attention to take shape.
My role is to be that attention. To create a space where you can think out loud without being interrupted, judged, or steered. Where you can try things on, change your mind, contradict yourself, and arrive somewhere you couldn't have reached alone.
This kind of work asks for trust on both sides. I take that seriously. The conversations we have together are confidential, considered, and held with care.

"His thoughtful, well-timed questions encouraged me to slow down, reflect deeply, and explore perspectives I hadn't previously considered... His presence is steady, respectful, and quietly confident — exactly what you want in a coach."
Z. McFarlane

The shape of the work
Coaching sessions are 60 minutes, and we typically work in blocks of three to six. Three sessions is enough to do real work on a clearly defined question. Six sessions gives room for something deeper - a transition that's unfolding, a question that opens others.
Within a block, sessions usually happen every two to three weeks. That rhythm gives time for thinking between sessions and keeps momentum without rushing the work.
Most coaching takes place online, via Teams - which means we can work together wherever you are. Phone and in-person sessions are also available, if either suits you better.
Sessions are £100 each. A six-session block is £540, paid in advance or in two instalments.
The way in is a thirty-minute conversation, with no cost and no expectation. This is a chance to talk about where you are, what you're sensing, and whether working together might be right. Most clients begin within a couple of weeks of that conversation; sometimes sooner if the diary allows.
"He nudged me to explore my career options in greater depth and see possibilities that lie ahead. This was also useful in building my confidence."
